My wife Barbara and I were born and raised in Montana. We are the parents of seven children, thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. I started college in Montana and finished my undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon.
We then moved to California where I entered San Francisco Theological Seminary. We served parish churches in South Dakota, Long Island, and New York. I volunteered as a U.S.A.F. Chaplain and served 21 years on active duty. While serving in the Air Force, I completed a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. As part of my Air Force duty, I did work in counseling, domestic violence prevention, and parenting training as well as serving a hospital.
I mention these fact to emphasize that we are a family oriented church. I have served this wonderful multi-ethnic, multi-racial, open and affirming church at various times for many years.
Never has the future of this church been brighter.
We use the term “family church” not in the traditional sense of father, mother, and offspring, but rather in the sense of everyone belonging to each other in a nurturing, caring, sense. God is seen as the loving parent of everyone in the universe. We at Valley of the Flowers are unique only in our proclamation of inclusiveness. Everyone is welcomed as a child of God. Hence, we learn from everyone’s life experiences and knowledge, from the most senior citizen to the youngest child. Come join us.
